Combatting waste in the construction and demolition industry

Across the group we’re committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainable practices across the construction and demolition sector. Through our specialist division, Tynedale Reclamation, we’ve been supplying recycled aggregates and providing fully licensed waste management services throughout the North of England since 1996.

We understand that every project has unique waste requirements. That’s why we offer flexible solutions, whether managing waste on-site with our fleet of mobile crushing plants or processing materials at our dedicated recycling facility. Our advanced equipment maximises the recovery of valuable resources from construction, demolition, and excavation waste.

All aggregates are produced and tested to European and UK standards by a UKAS-accredited laboratory, ensuring quality and compliance. We continually review our products to identify new markets, reduce landfill dependency, and support the circular economy.

As a FORS and CHAS accredited operator, we provide assurance in the safe and efficient operation of our extensive fleet, delivering reliable service to our customers and the communities we serve.

Innovation in Action: Soil Wash Plant at Newburn

MGL Demolition has invested in a state-of-the-art Soil Wash Plant at our Newburn site in Newcastle upon Tyne. Now fully operational, it processes up to 160 tonnes per hour, turning soil-bound construction waste into high-quality recycled aggregates and washed sand.

The plant uses advanced screening and water recovery systems to minimise waste and maximise resource efficiency, recovering up to 90% of water used and saving over 84,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

Recycled aggregates are now available for purchase from Tynedale Roadstone. Collection or delivery available.

Licenced Recycling Facility

All waste streams collected are brought to our Newburn facility, close to the A1, 2 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne and are carefully separated. We hold all necessary permits and waste licences through our demolition service provision.

Recycled Bulk Aggregates

Produced from selected demolition waste consisting of crushed concrete, brick and occasionally, recycled asphalt.

6F5 Capping – (Specification for Highway Works – Series 600) Selected granular fill material. A coarse graded aggregate ranging from 0-75mm.
MOT Type 1 – (Specification for Highway Works – Series 800, Clause 803) A medium graded aggregate designed for use as a sub-base for driveways and paths. Size range from 0-40mm.

Quarried Bulk Aggregates

We deliver high quality aggregates directly from our quarries. Longhoughton Quarry in Alnwick, Northumberland has reserves of whinstone and limestone, all materials are compliant with the relevant BSEN-13242 and SHW-803 criteria. High PSV Stone from Glenfin Quarry and the sand and gravel extraction operations at Fulfordlees Quarry, both in Cockburnspath, near Dunbar enhance our capabilities as a bulk and bagged aggregate supplier.

Bulk Certified Earthworks Materials

Our fully certified products generated from earthworks projects such as clay, subsoil and topsoil undergo testing to relevant industry standards and are certified to ensure they meet the relevant specification.

Bagged Aggregates & Soils

Our recycled aggregates, sand, topsoil and quarried stone can be bagged, ensuring an effective, clean, convenient solution for smaller quantities of materials.
